Coles is recalling one of its most popular tomato paste products immediately.

On Tuesday morning, the supermarket chain announced the recalls tomato paste nationally weighing 170g and Coles Tomato Paste 500g, which were sold in Coles supermarkets, Coles Local, and online at Coles.

"The recall is being conducted due to the presence of an undeclared allergen - soy - that was not specified on the label," Coles explained in a statement.

"This recall affects all best before date codes sold in the previous 12 months and will be available in Coles stores across the country beginning in July 2021."

Customers with a soy allergy or intolerance may experience a reaction if they consume the product, according to Coles.

"Customers can return the product for a full refund to any Coles supermarket." Coles Online customers can get a full refund or credit by calling Coles Online Customer Care at 1800 455 400, according to the Coles statement.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers." Customers who want more information can call Coles Customer Care at 1800 061 562."
